The National Institue on Early Education Research (
NIEER) has released its State of Preschool Yearbook for 2007. This is the fifth year the report has been released. From the
summary:
State-funded preschool programs represent an important and sizeable component of the nation's patchwork of early childhood education programs. The National Institute for Early Education Research has developed the State Preschool Yearbook series to provide information on services offered through these programs to children at ages 3 and 4. We hope that this report will serve as a resource for policymakers, advocates, and researchers to make more informed decisions as state-funded preschool moves forward.
In this report, Minnesota is ranked 37th in access for 4 year olds and 19th in access for 3 year olds. State-funded preschool in Minnesota consists of the School Readiness program in public schools and state-funded Head Start slots.
